Sedation Dentistry

A Personal Safety Assessment

Tell the team about medications, allergies, breathing or sleep concerns, and previous reactions to sedation. The specific method, monitoring, and provider involved should be explained before you decide.

Types of Sedation We Offer

At The House of Dental, we provide oral sedation to our patients. Taken as a pill before your appointment, it produces a drowsy, relaxed state that can range from mild to moderate. A driver is required to support you on your way back home.

Preparing for the Appointment

Follow the written instructions for your prescribed plan, including medications, food and drink, and transport. Do not use another person’s medication or assume that preparation for one form of sedation applies to another.

After the Visit

Sedation can affect alertness and coordination. Arrange the assistance required by the office and follow instructions about driving, work, and recovery. Sedation does not remove all risks or replace the discussion of the dental procedure itself.

Questions About Sedation Dentistry

Will I be completely asleep?

Different methods produce different levels of sedation. Ask what is available and what you should expect for your own plan.

Can I drive myself home?

Follow your provider’s specific instructions. A responsible adult may be required to bring you, stay, and take you home.
